I’ve heard that sunflowers are given as a symbol of good luck for people fighting cancer, but can’t find anything specific on this. If anyone has any info, please share!

Hi Joe! In the Victorian era the language of flowers was all the rage, and sunflowers symbolize Appreciation and Admiration. Well, I admire and appreciate the grace with which you are handling your situation, thank you for your blog! Hope to see you again this week and in later weeks, upstate!
In modern news, apparently there is a protein present in the sunflower seed that serves as a model for cancer drug research. xo, Carm
Thanks, Carm! xo
Hi Joe, when I first came to your blog I immediately thought, “oh, he’s posted my favorite flower!” I never heard about it’s possible connection to cancer patients so thank you for sharing! I’ve always regarded it as the happiest flower on the planet 🙂
You’re welcome! Had only heard about the cancer symbolism a few months ago. Will share any info I find.
Hi again, Joe. I’ve discovered more about the symbolism: the seeds are high in selenium which is useful in combating any deficiencies. Regardless, I am still so glad you were given sunflowers to brighten your day!
