I’ve heard that sunflowers are given as a symbol of good luck for people fighting cancer, but can’t find anything specific on this. If anyone has any info, please share!

In modern news, apparently there is a protein present in the sunflower seed that serves as a model for cancer drug research. xo, Carm

Hi Joe, when I first came to your blog I immediately thought, “oh, he’s posted my favorite flower!” I never heard about it’s possible connection to cancer patients so thank you for sharing! I’ve always regarded it as the happiest flower on the planet 🙂

Hi again, Joe. I’ve discovered more about the symbolism: the seeds are high in selenium which is useful in combating any deficiencies. Regardless, I am still so glad you were given sunflowers to brighten your day!
